The 2026 World Endurance Championship is finally underway with the first round of the season at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola
Just as I did in the past two editions of the 6 hours of Imola, I attended both Friday and Saturday, plus of course the pre-event test that did not take place in 2024 and 2025 instead. Despite having already seen all the Hypercars and LM GT3 cars in action before, it was very nice to finally see all of them together at Imola during the free practice and quali sessions. Of course, a bit sad to hear once again the GT cars muffled to the 100 db limit, but the great sounding variety of the LMH and LMDh cars really pleased my hears
With F1 not coming to Imola this year, the World Endurance Championship was for sure the most awaited event of the 2026 season at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, and fans really showed how much they wanted to be there, with over 90.000 attendences over the whole weekend
A quick word also over the two support series of the event, especially the newborn Legends of Le Mans grid, organized by Peter Auto to take back on track the LMP1, LMP2 and GTE cars of the past 15/20 years. I must admit that I've been well satisfied by the entry list, with 4 Peugeot 908, the very rare Lotus Evora and Porsche RS Spyder and much much more. Hopefully the grid will be even bigger in the future, especially in the GTE field, but the promises are high
The Porsche Carrera Cup Germany instead featured more then 30 of the new Porsche 992.2 GT3 Cup, finally without their 100 db limited mufflers that they were fitting in the Curbstone tests the past month, the only other occasion I managed to record this car before
Neverthenless a very positive weekend here in Imola, definetly looking forward to come back next year, but maybe there will be the chance to see the WEC cars once again before the end of the season on my YouTube channel
Stay Tuned!!!
