I have to say it has been quite a while since I had attended my last proper drifting event, with the right occasion to smell rubber was of course the first round of the 2026 Drift Masters series, which finally took place in Vallelunga after last year's cancellation
With Pope Leo safe and healty, no one could stop the 41 drivers that came to the Autodromo Piero Taruffi for an exciting weekend of pure drifting action, with Friday opening the dances with the first free practice sessions and the quali taking place, with Saturday seing the top 32 drivers fighting for the win of round 1 of the 2026 Drift Masters Series
After some very intense duels, Conor Shanahan managed to beat James Deane in the final, as the 3rd place went to Piotr Wiecek, which had the best of Korpulinski for the last step of the podium
It has been so cool to see some of the best drift drivers and cars in action, from the majestic Ford Mustang RTR V8 powered of Deane to the Toyota GT86 2JZ powered of the Shanahan brothers, including of course also the iconic Toyota Supra A90 of Piotr Wiecek
I was also very happy to see a few more particular cars, such as the 2024 champion Lauri Heinonen with his Nissan 180SX S13 Nascar Supercharged V8 powered car, but also Alfa Veloce of Lukasz Tasiemski and the BMW M2 F87 Volkswagen 4-Cylinder powered of Marco Zakouřil, that will definetly have a video dedicated soon or later
Neverthenless a very positive weekend in Vallelunga, now time to go back to the 2-wheels this weekend with the ASI Motor Show
Stay Tuned!!!
